Strasser Weinerge means the ‘vineyards’ in ‘Strass’, the fruit for this wine is selected from three of Martins vineyards in the village. The wine is a showcase for the typical characteristics of the variety and vineyard soils around the village… in Martin’s words, it is a wine that ‘makes you happy’! Gruner is typically a variety that does not see any wood in it’s aging and/or fermentation, and here Martin add’s just a ‘whisper’ with the percentage he ages in old used barrels to soften a touch Gruners incredibly natural acidity. Martin also uses Steel barrels to age parts of this wine which change the relationship of the lees to wine ratio. Once again Martin manifesting his great passion, curiosity and creativity and always finding new and innovative ways to vinify this historical and regionally important variety.
