Pinot Noir Anderson Valley Kite’s Rest 2013 91 points | Wine Enthusiast June 2016
"This sophisticated and compelling wine combines full body and a muscular texture with very tasty, solid fruit flavors. The balance between acidity, tannin and flavor is good, and the finish is tangy and lingering." -Jim Gordon
Black Kite Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are some of very best from California–on their own and as a collective set.
Black Kite made its name in small lot Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from its Anderson Valley estate, and then branched out to great vineyards in Sonoma Coast and Santa Lucia Highlands.
It’s rare to find a producer that is able to maintain a high level of quality across a broad spectrum of vineyard sites and appellations without having a “signature style” that dominates them. This is a testament to the sites they’ve selected, their awesome farming and winemaker Jeff Gaffner’s amazing touch in bringing out the soul of the wine.
These are not imitations of Burgundy; these are true California wines and a perfect example of how elegant California Pinot Noir can be.
